CGMS: CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORING SYSTEM
CGMS is one of the latest methods by which measure the blood sugar levels of a person continuously for 2 weeks 24*7. A small button like device (sensor) is applied to the back of the arm, which measures the blood sugar levels. It’s virtually painless and the person wearing it can do all routine activities like bathing, sleeping etc. Along with it. (Its like wearing a ring inside a shower). At the end of 2 weeks the sensor is removed and the readings are obtained through a receiver in the form of a graph.
The advantage of this device is it helps in monitoring the blood sugar levels continuously, and helps in identifying which part of the day blood sugar goes too low or too high and tailor make the treatment.
